By the time students reach the 11th grade, most of them have studied English for at least six years. In spite of that, only a handful of them get the opportunity to talk to native speakers and use their skills. On 18th January the students of the Q11 got to meet two American diplomats and ask them questions about their jobs, their country and even their President.
Ms. Theresa Rodriguez, who works as a management officer in the security department, named one of the perks of working in the U.S. consulate in Munich: celebrating both German and American holidays. Mr. David Hsia, a security officer, explained how they were subject to the law in Germany. The mood of the whole event was rather light since American candy was thrown to everyone who asked a question. Those questions had a wide range of topics, including personal matters as well as critical questions about U.S. politics. Ms. Rodriguez and Mr. Hsia did their best to give satisfying answers to all students.
This was a great experience for all students and a good opportunity to use the language skills that were learned during English class.
